PowerPress vs PodPress

Well well, What do you know, the Podpress developer has come out of the wood work and announced that Podpress is back under development.

I’m sorry, 2 years of nothing from a developer I would consider it abandoned. In fact I had. I switched to Blubrry Powerpress not long after the WordPress 2.7.1 update by memory. May have even been earlier than that.

Would I go back to a package that had been abandoned for 2 years? Hell no! What’s to say in 6 months time the same thing doesn’t happen again. Then I’d be at square one again with a plugin that’s not going to be fixed / upgraded if problems arise.

I’m firmly sticking with the @blubrry Powerpress plugin. The blubrry powerpress team have a vested interest in maintaining their plugin. Not only that, their support is second to none and their services are just the icing on the cake.

Honestly I would not trust a wordpress plugin that has a history of being abandoned to control my podcasting feeds or iTunes info. But that’s just me.

I have no problem if those people who are die hard fans of podpress run it, Great there’s nothing wrong with multiple podcasting plugins for wordpress. In fact I’m sure it just makes Powerpress even more powerful and more advanced than those already out there :)

Ok, So I setup a podcast on a business website of ours. I found what I thought was a great plugin for WordPress which in turn I liked. It had nice setup features and good player placement customization.

I then started to think, maybe some of the others are better.
