Well, with the pending release of WordPress 2.9 things are looking good on the WordPress front.
As you may know, I’ve been running WordPress 2.9-rare for quite a while and have since gone through the beta releases and now one of my sites is sitting on WordPress 2.9-RC1.
While it took me some time to get use to the new ‘Trash’ feature and having to remember to empty it. I have a couple of plugin issues with Tweetmeme and Facebook Share (new) but other than those buttons no longer displaying on 2.9 due to some code changes, I’m liking the new version. Hopefully plugin developers will sort out the issues. If not then loosing a couple of plugins really isn’t an issue for me.
The new wp.me url shortening in WordPress.com stats is pretty cool, though for me what would be even cooler is the ability to auto tweet using the wp.me short url, but that’s a minor thing really.
So, all in all. I think a WP 2.9 release is going to be a pretty cool Christmas present from the Automattic team.
